My name is Melanie Thurman.  As of the 21-22 school year, I have 19 years of teaching experience.  This includes third grade (Wheeler), eighth grade (BCMS), and grades 9-11 (BCHS).  I have degrees from Roane State Community College and Tennessee Tech.  My master's degree is in instructional leadership.  I moved to Tennessee in 1984.  I was raised on the county line on Wheeler Mountain and attended school in Cumberland County.  Today, I live with my husband Chris, and my children, Payton and Cole, in the Melvin Community just past 9-mile.  I enjoy watching my daughter play volleyball for the Lady Warriors and writing letters to my son who is in basic training for the U.S Marine Corps.  I love horror movies, music, cooking, and tending to my fish pond.  I have enjoyed teaching many different levels, but I'll have to say, I do like teaching 11th grade the best!
